I’m Craig Pennington — author, history enthusiast, and lifelong explorer. My novels are shaped by two powerful forces: a love for storytelling and a life spent traveling the world, uncovering forgotten tales, and walking in the footsteps of those who came before us.

If you’ve read The Heart of the Run or are diving into my lates, The Shadows of Havana, you know I don’t just write about the past — I live it. From shipwreck dives in the Caribbean to the hills of Western Pennsylvania, my research is hands-on, muddy-booted, and sometimes whiskey-soaked.

This blog is where I’ll share the stories behind the stories — the travels that inspire my fiction, the hidden history I dig up along the way, and some of the strange, fascinating, and sometimes heartbreaking truths I stumble across.
